Doxxy

As someone that grew up with dachshunds, I’ve had more then enough time to learn the ins and outs of them.

On one side, their longer backs can cause health issues involving their spines. One of the dogs I had in the past ended up herniating a disk when she was going up the stairs, forcing us to get her surgery. And currently, my dog has a bit of arthritis in his spine along with another issue (can’t remember what it is but it also involves his back) and we have to give him medication to help with the swelling and pain.

Dachshunds can also have quite an attitude, being loud with things they perceive as ‘invading their territory’ or are scared of. My dogs even go running to bark at whatever they see.

But on the other hand, dachshunds can be so loveable. One I had adored company, happily running up to greet anyone that came to our house. And my current ones love to cuddle up to me, with one even joining me in bed every morning.

And knowing that someone is there waiting for you after a hard day at work makes all that stress somehow melt away.

All dogs have their pros and cons, don’t forget that. But all the positives make growing up with those wiener dogs worth it, despite the bad things that have occurred.
